Paladin Marketing

Overview

One of Yorkshire’s most established firms, ready for an identity that matched their ambition.

Simpson Wood is one of Yorkshire’s most established accountancy and financial planning firms. Founded in 1880 and based in Huddersfield, with a second office in Leeds, the firm works with businesses and individuals to help them make the most of their finances.

With a long-standing reputation and a loyal client base, Simpson Wood approached Paladin to lead a rebrand that would bring their identity in line with their modern approach and future ambitions, giving their marketing a strong foundation to build from for years ahead.

~The Challenge~

A firm whose personality, professionalism and value deserved to be seen and felt.A firm whose personality, professionalism and value deserved to be seen and felt.

Simpson Wood had spent over a century building genuine expertise and deep client relationships. The opportunity was to give that expertise a visual identity and messaging framework that would reflect the full picture: who they are, what makes them different and the real-life outcomes they deliver for clients.

The goal was a brand that would connect more powerfully with the right audience, support long-term marketing and carry the firm confidently into its next chapter.

What Edge Found

Financial clients choose on feeling as much as fact. They want freedom, not just advice.

People seek financial guidance because they want clarity and control over their lives. The best accountancy relationships go beyond numbers: they give clients genuine confidence that the future is manageable and theirs to shape.

Simpson Wood’s real strength was their unique ability to support both business and personal finance needs under one roof, meaning clients could build a single, trusted relationship across every aspect of their financial life. That intersection became the strategic heart of the new identity.

How GTA Activated It

A complete rebrand, rolled out across every touchpoint from website to stadium.

We began with a deep-dive session to fully understand who Simpson Wood is, what they stand for and what makes them genuinely valuable to clients. Rather than leading with services, we shifted the emphasis to outcomes: what their guidance enables for real people and real businesses.

The visual identity was refreshed with a refined colour palette, retaining familiar tones of blue and green but adjusted to feel more modern and expressive, communicating stability, optimism and forward movement. Photography centred on people enjoying the life their financial clarity had made possible: relaxed, in control and supported.

The Synergy Device, a clean graphic representing the intersection of personal and business finance, gave the brand a distinctive visual language that reflected Simpson Wood’s unique offering. The new identity was then rolled out across a new website, marketing brochures, social media graphics, building signage and brand video content. Simpson Wood officially launched the rebrand at the John Smith’s Stadium, marking a proud moment for the team and their clients.
